- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆The ladies in the permitting office are knowledgeable and friendly, however the process required to obtain a permit here is extremely poorly thought out. You cannot even mail in the application, let alone email, and must personally submit it (the USPS was invented a few years ago...). Contractor licensing requires meeting with the Board - who meet only once a month, and $550, (the only municipality out the 40 we're licensed in to require this!). And if your license expires by a couple of days you have to do the whole process over again, even if you've held a license here for years - huge waste of time money. This process is stuck in the 18th century, it's no wonder so many jobs in Cheyenne go un-permited - they make it miserable for the honest folks who try to do it the right way. Only a few miles away Laramie County has the most up to date building department in both WY and CO.By Tad Bjorlie, March 15, 2017
